In December 1980, a dreamer was lost.
For fifty-plus years since, the same candle has been kept burning at the same memorial in a park in New York City. Strangers bring flowers. People who weren’t born yet when he died leave handwritten notes. Children ask who he was. Parents answer the way parents have always answered questions about dreamers: he was someone who believed the world could be better, and said so out loud, and wouldn’t stop saying so.
He said the world would be a more peaceful place if we all just imagined it. He was not the first person to say it. He will not be the last.
Dreamers never die. Not the dream. Not the ones who refuse to stop dreaming it.
About this design: Stark modern minimalist memorial illustration. A single white taper candle with a small warm amber flame burning steadily at the center of the shirt. Directly below the candle, a pair of iconic small round wireframe eyeglasses placed gently. Beside the glasses, a single long-stemmed red rose laid diagonally. Extreme minimalism — just three elements — each carefully placed with strong negative space. The weight carried by simplicity.
