Penny Lane ↔ Strawberry Field — Liverpool L18 Heritage Tee

Two real Liverpool places. Both became eternal in 1967.

Penny Lane is a street in the suburb of Mossley Hill — where one of the songwriters grew up. Strawberry Field was a Salvation Army children’s home on Beaconsfield Road — where the other songwriter used to climb the wall as a boy to play in the overgrown garden behind. Both songs about both places were released as a double A-side single in February 1967, creating a single musical document of two different childhoods in the same city.

Today, both locations have heritage signs. Both are stops on the Liverpool pilgrimage tour. Both are proof that where you’re from matters forever.
